Museveni shared the message on October 8, 2026, during national prayers held at the Office of the President in Entebbe, where he was accompanied by his wife.
In a post on X, the president expressed gratitude for her recovery, describing it as a blessing for their family.
“First and foremost, I thank God for preserving Maama’s life and for her continued recovery,” Museveni wrote.
He also called on Ugandans to recognise and use the talents they have been given by God, saying that hard work and putting those abilities to good use are important in building the country.
Questions about Janet Museveni’s health arose earlier this year after she missed several major public events, including her husband’s swearing-in ceremony on May 12, 2026, and their grandchild’s wedding.
In June, Museveni revealed that his wife had been seriously ill but was receiving medical care and beginning to improve.
Janet Museveni serves as Uganda’s Minister of Education and Sports. She married Museveni in August 1973 in London, United Kingdom. In 2023, the couple marked 50 years of marriage by renewing their wedding vows.
