Police Called After Dispute Over 3-Year-Old Football Prodigy in Florida

A dispute over a three-year-old boy’s performance at a children’s football tournament in Winter Park, Florida, has prompted a police response after organisers and the child’s parents disagreed over why he was taken off the pitch.

The boy, known as Nevada, caught attention after videos shared by his parents on social media showed him dribbling past other children and scoring several goals.

His parents say he was removed from the tournament because he was playing better than the other children.

But the tournament organiser offered a different explanation to police, saying that although Nevada was talented, he had also been pushing other players.

The organiser said he had asked the boy to stop before deciding to substitute him. He added that the decision led to an argument with Nevada’s parents, prompting him to call police to help resolve the situation and ask the family to leave.

He also told officers he was willing to refund the money the family had paid for the boy to participate.

However, videos shared by Nevada’s parents do not appear to show him pushing or physically touching other players.

His mother, Martasia Griffin, told police that she believed other parents were unhappy with her son’s football skills. She said they had complained that he was not passing the ball, while she maintained that the other children struggled to take it away from him.

The family said they had paid nearly $300 for Nevada to participate in the tournament.

Winter Park Police later clarified that no one had been arrested or forced to leave the park where the match was held.

According to police, the family told officers that the game had ended and they were preparing to go home. The department added that the family cooperated with officers throughout the incident.

The incident has sparked discussion about how children’s sporting competitions should be managed, particularly when a young player’s abilities stand out from those of their peers.

While Nevada’s parents believe their son was treated unfairly because of his talent, the tournament organiser maintains that his decision was linked to concerns about his conduct on the pitch.
