Rwanda earns nearly $10 million from agricultural exports

Rwanda earned nearly $10 million from agricultural and livestock exports in just five days, as the country continues to expand its presence in international markets.

According to the National Agricultural Export Development Board, or NAEB, Rwanda exported 9,656 tonnes of agricultural and livestock products between September 28 and October 2, 2026, generating $9.94 million, equivalent to more than 14 billion Rwandan francs.

Coffee brought in the largest amount among the main individual products. The country exported 609 tonnes of coffee worth $1.66 million, while 400 tonnes of tea generated $1.1 million.

Other products also contributed to the earnings. Rwanda exported 718 tonnes of fruits, earning $674,055, and 489 tonnes of vegetables, which brought in $508,124.

The country also exported 285 tonnes of livestock products, generating $558,518, while 18 tonnes of flowers earned $86,857.

However, the largest share of exports came from a broad category of other products. More than 7,100 tonnes were exported under this category, generating about $5.34 million.

Rwandan agricultural products found buyers in several international markets, including China, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Belgium, South Africa and India, as well as other African countries.

The figures highlight the growing role of agriculture and livestock products in Rwanda’s efforts to earn foreign exchange through exports.
