Kenya’s Director-General for Health, Dr Patrick Omwanda Amoth, confirmed the assistance during an interview with Kenyan broadcaster Citizen TV on Sunday night, October 18, 2026, as health authorities continue to respond to the outbreak.
Dr Amoth said the number of confirmed cases had increased from seven to eight, with the latest infection detected among 38 people tested on Sunday.
“We have also received another consignment of medical supplies today, with a plane carrying medicines from Rwanda,” he said.
The latest patient is a 49-year-old male doctor who developed fever, headaches and muscle pain. He has been isolated and is receiving medical care, according to Dr Amoth.
He added that patients diagnosed with the virus were receiving treatment, with some beginning to show signs of recovery as their symptoms eased.
Kenya confirmed its first Ebola case on October 6, 2026, following the emergence of the outbreak earlier that month. Healthcare workers and family members of previously infected people are among those affected.
Rwanda’s support comes as Kenya continues to strengthen its response to the outbreak. The two countries maintain close ties in areas including trade, security, diplomacy and regional development, particularly through the East African Community (EAC).
