The ceremony took place on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Village Urugwiro in Kigali.

Those who presented their credentials included South Africa’s ambassador, Tinyiko George Hlungwane; European Union representative Jérémie Blin; Sweden’s ambassador, Henrik Nilsson; and South Korea’s ambassador, Huh Jung.

Kagame also received credentials from Mauritania’s ambassador, El Houssein Ould Nagi, who will represent his country from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The other four diplomats are based in Kigali.

The presentation of credentials is a formal step that allows ambassadors to officially take up their diplomatic duties in a host country.

Their appointments come as Rwanda continues its diplomatic engagement with countries and international organisations on matters of mutual interest and cooperation.
