The helicopter, registration number 5Y-FSK, crashed on the golf club grounds near Famous Hotel in Kericho County, sustaining extensive damage.
Kericho County Police Commander Kivindu Kilonzo said several people on board were injured and taken to hospital in stable condition. No deaths had been reported at the time of the initial police assessment.
Images from the scene showed the damaged helicopter lying on a grassy field, with its tail section torn away from the main body.
Emergency teams and security personnel were sent to the scene to assist those involved and assess the situation.
The cause of the crash remains unknown. Investigators are expected to establish what went wrong as the helicopter was taking off.
The incident comes after two fatal aviation accidents in Kenya in recent months.
In August 2026, seven people were killed when a helicopter carrying tourists crashed near Mount Ololokwe in Samburu County. The aircraft reportedly struck a rock formation near the mountain’s summit before catching fire.
In September, a training aircraft operated by the Kenya School of Flying crashed in the Kipeto area of Kajiado West Subcounty, killing a student pilot and a flight instructor.
The latest crash adds to concerns over aviation safety in the country, as authorities work to determine the circumstances behind the Kericho incident.
