Rwanda, Nepal sign cooperation agreement to deepen bilateral ties

Rwanda and Nepal have signed a broad cooperation agreement as the two countries look to strengthen diplomatic ties and explore opportunities for working together in areas of mutual interest.

The General Cooperation Agreement was signed after talks between Rwanda’s Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe and Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal, Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

“General Cooperation Agreement” was signed by the two ministers, the ministry said in a post on X.

The agreement provides a framework for the two countries to cooperate in areas including development, trade and investment, education, technology, culture and the exchange of knowledge and expertise.

Rather than focusing on a single sector, such agreements are generally intended to give countries a broader framework for developing cooperation and opening discussions on specific areas of mutual interest.

For Rwanda, the deal comes as the country continues to expand its diplomatic and economic partnerships, including through agreements aimed at creating opportunities for trade, investment and institutional cooperation.

Nepal, a South Asian nation, has also sought to strengthen international partnerships as part of its broader engagement with other countries.

The agreement gives Rwanda and Nepal a new platform for regular dialogue and for identifying areas where the two countries can pursue joint opportunities.
